New Town
Domestic bliss, the
Simple chant of waves,
Sleeps beneath a
Life-guard tower, on the
Boardwalk of a beach,
Dreaming of
No better place, in
A new town.
Prodigal’s return, can
Start on distant
State-school quad.
Is learning
Love from passing
Milky-eyed
Professors, the heart of it, at
Home or a new town?
Welcomed home at last,
Homeless man can
Sense potential,
Black puck, in a
Hockey stadium,
If he’s hard enough, in
A new town.
Running from the past can
Sometimes stop.
Thank God for
A new town,
No one’s allowed
To see them all.
